Now that 2018 is well underway and we have been selected for FSUK* 2018, where we will be competing under the number 17, the countdown to Silverstone is well and truly on and as a result there has been a flurry of activity to ensure that the BER-2018 will be our first ever working car.
In order to keep you up to date with our progress I have an update from each of our leads about their biggest achievements of 2018 so far:
Harry, Frame Lead - assembling the welding jig and having the SES* approved
Michael, Electrical Co-Lead –submitting the FMEA*
Sofie, Electrical Co-Lead - setting up the motor test rig
Harry, Team Principal and Chris, Suspension Lead - completing the design of the suspension and steering systems
James, Bodywork Lead – manufacturing the triangualar panels for our bodywork
Although there has been great progress made there is still much to be done and so we have a very busy couple of weeks coming up as we try and build a rolling chassis in time for Prescott Bike Festival. Drawings will be finalised and submitted to the workshop, parts will be made and the suspension will be assembled and welded to the chassis. Prescott Bike Festival is a celebration of motorcyclists and motorsport and for the first time is dedicating a day to Electric Vehicles . We have very kindly been asked to be part of this exciting event and we cannot wait to go and talk to people about BER and what we hope to achieve alongside some of the world's leading electric car companies. You can find out more about the event, which is happening on the 14th and 15th of April, and how to buy tickets at the following link https://www.prescottbikefestival.co.uk/book-tickets/advance-tickets.
That's all from me for now, I will be writing another news letter soon but in the mean time you can keep up to date with our progress by following us on Instagram (@briselecracing).
